Rules - Alearga Hasmasii competition

1. The organizer

Aleargă Hășmașii is a trail running competition organized by The EcoSportive Association "The Soul of Hășmaș"(AESH) from Bălan town, Harghita county.

AESH was founded in March 2015, by a group of enthusiasts in the field of ecology and promoting a healthy lifestyle through sport, from Bălan town.

Through this competition we want to send you our love and concern for the environment, to promote and encourage any kind of ecological activity. We do not use disposable glasses / dishes / cutlery, but we will opt for reusability and biodegradable materials. We always promote local producers, natural products and a healthy lifestyle.

 

2. Trails

The competition will take place on 9 October 2021 on the mountains around Bălan.

There will be organized the following trails:

  • Tura Mare (Marathon) - 42km, 2200m elevation gain
  • Tura Mică (HalfMarathon) - 21km, 1300m elevation gain
  • Kids Race - on site registration, no tax required.

The START will be in front of the Community Center, town center.

Time limit:

  • TuraMare - 10h
  • TuraMică - 6h

Routes changes / cancellation

The organizers reserve the right to change the routes at any time, all changes being announced in advance.
In exceptional cases, which may lead to canceling or postponing the race, this will be done with prompt notification to all participants. Depending on the moment of taking this decision, the fee will be refunded in full or in the amount of 50%.

 

3. Participation

The contest is open to those who are 18 years of age; 16-year-olds can also participate with the consent of their parents / tutor in writing and a medical certificate confirming that they are fit for physical exercise.

All participants will sign the on own responsibility statement, certifying that they know the conditions and rules of the competition, and that they are medically and physically fit to participate at this event.

The organizers will not be held responsible for any accident or damage that the participant will encounter or cause during the competition.

 

4. Registration

The registration can be done on the website by completing the registration form.

Once the payment has been confirmed by the organizers, the entry will be validated and marked accordingly in the table containing the list of the participants.

The participation fee differs depending on the type of the trail:

//The fee includes the Park National tax.

//T-shirts could be purchased online, while registering, only until September 20, 2021. T-shirts can still be purchased on race day, within the limits of availability - they are not included in the basic kit.

  • To help us with your organizational activity, please pay the participation fee as soon as possible or let us know if you can not participate
  • The proof of payment of the fee (scan or picture) can be sent to the email address [email protected]

Other mentions:

- In the event of non-attendance, abandonment or withdrawal for any reason, the participation fee is not refunded.
- If for some reason you want to cancel the registration, please notify the organizers by 30.09.2021, you'll get back the fee that you paid minus applied comissions. After this date the fee is not refundable, but you can choose one of the following options:

  • receive the participation kit, transportation costs will be paid by the participant
  • transfer the registration to another participant

The participation kit contains

  • cotton reusable bag
  • the personalized contest number (BIB) for those registered in due time
  • trail map
  • energy bar
  • finisher medal
  • other products, depending on our partners

Also, by paying the participation fee, you benefit from:

  • hydration and supply points, along the track
  • post race traditional meal, all you can eat
  • prizes
  • medical & rescue services

 

5. Checkpoints and supply points

Supply points will be available along the track. Energy drinks, water, fruit, sweets and other food can be found there. The route will pass close to several springs, they will be marked very clearly.

The location of the checkpoints is not disclosed, however one needs to pass through all of them in order to be considered eligible for being declared a finisher.

 

6. Disqualification

Along the track there will be race judges who will supervise and record each passing competitior. Competitors who will not pass all the checkpoints will be disqualified.

The organizers also reserve the right to disqualify any participant in one of the following situations:

  • the use of any means of transport during the race
  • exceeding the deadline announced in advance by the organizers
  • BIB modifying or changing without organizer's permission
  • dumping trash, the trash may be left at the checkpoints or at the points of supply
  • lack of respect for other competitors, organizers, volunteers

 

7. Safety

Along the route other vehicles, tourists, animals can be encountered. At the intersection of the route with the county road there will be a police officer to ensure a safe street crossing. Participants are required to respect the traffic rules imposed by law.

The organizers do not assume any liability in the event that a competitor is hurt or injured or other consequences occur due to the participation in this contest.

If one doesn't see trail markings after running 300 meters, one should return to the last known marker and continue from there.

The organizers of the competition will provide medical assistance and rescue support.

Organizers will not be held responsible for lost or forgotten items during the competition. These will be collected by volunteers and posted on the website.

 

8. Ranking and awards

Timing is done per second.
Trophies and various products for mountain/running activities will be given as prizes. The organizers reserve the right to give other prizes, which will be announced in advance.

Prizes categories for both races:

  • Open female/male

Age categories:

  • <=35 female/male
  • 36 - 50 female/male
  • 50+ female/male

The top three places for each category will be awarded.

Age categories for Kids Race:

  • <=11 girls / boys
  • 12 - 13 girls / boys
  • >=14 girls / boys

 

9. Equipment

Required Equipment:

  1. BIB (given by the organizer) that is held in front of the sight
  2. trail running shoes
  3. the route map (given by the organizers)

We recommend competitors to wear running gear appropriate to the weather conditions at the time of the competition. Also:

  • water tank
  • energy bars or energy gels
  • waterproof/wind jacket
  • mobile phone

The organizers reserve the right to change the required equipment according to the weather conditions on the day of the contest.

 

10. Withdraw

Any participant who can't/doesn't want to continue the race, for whatever reason, must immediately inform the organizers, at the start, at the checkpoints, upon arrival or by phone.

 

11. Other Mentions

By participating in this competitions you agree with the rules and regulations layed down in this document.

The organizers reserve the right to stop a participant from continuing the race in the following cases:

  • has been injured after the start, and his condition prevents him from continuing the race
  • exceeded intermediate time limit (if any)
  • exceptional situations

The organizers will ensure the confidentiality of the personal data of the participants of the competition.
The organizers will ensure the greening of the routes both before and after the competition.
The organizers reserve the right to modify the rules and regulations in this document anytime but not after the start of the competition, with the obligation to announce the changes made on the website and on the facebook page of the event.

Competitors are forbidden to dispose of packaging, other garbage in the area of competition, this behavior will be sanctioned by disqualification. They will be able to use the trash cans at the checkpoints and supply points.

The photos and the videos created during the event are public and can be used by organizers to promote the area and competition.

 

12. Nature protection

Cheile Bicazului - Hasmas National Park is an important national resource in terms of biodiversity: an unspoiled area, populated by various plant and animal species and with extraordinary landscape.

Our Association proposes an innovative approach to sustainable development issues, starting from the premise that sustainable development is achievable when environmental protection combines with the promotion of health through movement, sport in general. The name of our association contains the term ecosportive, and the objectives set in the statute propose a simultaneous approach of the two components, this project representing the quintessence of this philosophy.

We want the participants of "Running the Hășmaș" to appreciate all the benefits that the nature offers, to respect it, and to be aware that each of us has a strong impact in protecting it; We all want a clean environment, free from waste and unwanted debris.

Whatever garbage you bring up to the mountain, take it back with you as the mountain doesn't clean itself!
